In the event of an emergency, support should first be sought from the onsite medical personnel at the multiple sports venues. Medical services will be provided at all sports venues at a level appropriate to the sport being conducted. If an incident occurs and you require further treatment or support than what is available at a Games venue, you will be taken to a local hospital for further treatment. However, if you are not at a venue and require emergency medical support inform your Team Liaison officer immediately for assistance or if after hours call the emergency number which in Portugal is 112.
PHYSIOTHERAPY
There will be onsite physiotherapy for Triage Support at all the Sports venues.
EMERGENCY FIRST AID
First aid officers will be available at each of the sports venues during competition time and allocated treatment areas will be clearly identifiable. First aid will also be available at the Opening Ceremony.
PLAYING INSURANCE
It is the athlete/teams/club/team manager´s responsibility to secure insurance to cover any liabilities associated with their travel in relation to attending or participating in their sport. The team´s organiser must arrange suitable insurance that provides the athlete/team with equal or greater cover in respect of:
– Cancellation or curtailment of the tour due to accident , sickness or redundancy
– Personal accident and personal liability
– Medical expenses
– Personal effects and money
– Playing and participating in sport.
In addition to playing insurance it is advised that all Europeans should have the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) (E111 equivalent). The EHIC cards take around 3 weeks to be delivered so please apply well in advance. Please leave at least 10 weeks to obtain all these documents. Please mention at time of enquiry whether any members of your group have any special needs or requirements including physical, dietary or any other.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Travel insurance is especially recommended and important if the group are booking their own flights as Sports Ventures cannot refund any tours cancelled due to flight delays or cancellations.
